Sister Barrow with Sister Harris (companion), Sister Chance, and Sister Parker
Sister Barrow and Sister Harris
Hello everyone!!
The MTC is amazing! I honestly don't know where to start and
I have already start this email over like 5 times. If this email is all over
the place it is because a lot has happened this week. Well the first day was basically
a blurry but, it was still great. One thing I remember from that day was
meeting the MTC President and his counselors. One of the counselor’s name is
Brother Weidman but, it is pronounced Wheatman (which remind me of Kar, I
thought it was super funny.) Oh, and my companion is Sister Harris. She is
great, fantastic, beautiful, wonderful, hilarious, and so much more. She has
made me laugh like every day. She is great but, she is going to the West Virginia
mission so, I won't see her until we are off our missions. She also reminds me
of Randy and Claire because she quotes movies like all of the time. Her and
Sister Chance both do. Sister Chance is another Sister in our district. She is
from South Jordan and she is super cool. She is going to my mission so I will
be able to see her throughout my mission. We also have Sister Parker in our
district she is going to my mission as well. Sister Parker reminds me so much
of Hailey. Thursday, we started to teach our first "investigator". It
was a role play but, it felt so real. Her name was Kate. The first lesson went
so great! We felt the spirit so strongly. It was amazing. We invited her to
read the introduction of the Book of Mormon and she did! She progressed so
well. The Book of Mormon is such a powerful tool. I would invite all of you to
read it. It is an amazing book that can only change your life for the better.
In the introduction it says, "a man would get nearer to God by abiding by
it precepts, then by any other book". I know that this is true. Read the
book it will only improve your life. Friday, we started our day out with
service. We helped the custodian vacuum. It was fun. I also got to see
both Sister Westra’s. They are awesome. It was great to see a familiar face. We
have class for like 6 hours every day but, it doesn't seem like that long. I
have learned so much. One thing that I have learned about a ton this week is
prayer. Prayer is so important. It is really the first step we take with every
investigator because we can't tell them it true to convert them it comes
through the Holy Ghost and through them praying. Heavenly Father is there and
He wants to hear from you! Pray to him. He loves you so much. Sunday was so
great. It is a little bit different here because like every day here is like
Sunday because you are so uplifted every day. It was still great though to take
the sacrament. We also went to a devotional which was so spiritual. There was a
group of Elders and Sisters doing learning ASL that were signing the hymns
which reminded me of Keaton. Keats you should learn a hymn and send it to me :)
We also watched a talk by Elder Bednar. Oh man! it was so good! It was all
about being like Christ and turning outward even in our darkest days. He used
the example of Christ after suffering more than we can image in Gethsemane and
instead of Christ turning inwards He turned outward and heal the guys ear.
Elder Bednar said it way better if you are struggling look outwards and do
something for someone else. Okay and then Monday we meant will two
investigators. They are called TRC's some of the people we teach in there are
real investigators and others are new member that are playing themselves. We
don't know who is a really investigator or not so it is really cool. Last month
the MTC had two baptisms because of the TRC's. Which is super cool. The two
investigators we have are Emalee and Sofia. Emalee reminds me of Kenz. She is
doing an Exercise and Wellness degree at UVU. Her roommate is LDS and she see
that her roommate is always happy and wants to learn more about our church. She
is very curious. It is great. She asked us so many great questions. It makes as
like a little but, the spirit is great it lead us to perfect scriptures that
she need to hear. Sofia she is a old Mexican lady. She is so funny. She has
really lived a full life. She is really great. We get to meet with both of them
again tomorrow. I am excited to see them both again and to help the come to
Christ. I am excited to see how both of them progress. Well that is all for
this week! Have a great week.
Love you all,
Sister Barrow
P.S.
I am going to be studying in 1 Nephi 1 this week. I would
love it if you guys would read it with me and email me what you learned!
