Sister Barrow Week #3 -Last Week at the Empty Sea (Read it out loud) 7-24-2017

7 headed to Ohio Cleveland Mission 7-25-2017

Hello Everyone!

Wow this week has been crazy! I feel like so much happened. I don't know where to start. I have looking at this for like 5 mins trying to figure out what I wanted to say. Oh I will start out with what I learned in 1 Nephi 2. It was all about Lehi’s choice to go. He took that act of faith and follow the Lord. He didn't have to but, he did. It was all was his choice to follow. I would invite all you to read Alma 32. This chapter has been my favorite chapter here in the MTC. We have used it so much in lessons. I love it! I want to hear your insights from it!

Wednesday was so much fun! I got host the new missionaries coming it! It was a party. Sister Harris and I were just cracking jokes the whole time. She is sooo funny. The new missionaries probably thought we were a whole bunch of crazies. It was a fun time. We were outside like the whole day which was nice but, all of us got a little sun burnt. We all had like weird tan lines. Sister Chance had the worst one. She got one from here necklaces on her back. I wish I had a picture because it was pretty funny looking.

Thursday, we had in field training. It was a long day of just sitting and a ton of information being thrown at our faces. My companion is convinced that she met her husband there.... Jk we joke we kid. It was funny though!

Friday we went to the field for our exercise time and we ran around doing an indian run. We let Sister Parker talk us into it. She runs for USU she is super fast so, it was not fun when she was the lead. It was like trying to keep up with a Barker! IT WAS NOT FUN! After though we play soccer and Kan Jam. Kan Jam was so much fun. I don't really know how to explain it but, I have a six pack after playing that!

I feel like this is a boring email that only my mom is going to read so, here are some funny stories. We had a PI this week named Andy. He just lost his dad and is depressed. He was interested in learning more about our church after something is Aunt said to him. Well during the lesson, we were talking about Jesus Christ Atonement and he was asking why we need it. He said that he didn't feel like he was really a sinner so why did he need it. The first scripture that popped in my mind was Romans 3:23 Which says, "For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God". He read that and said, " Well, that was a slap in the face" So yes, I told a depressed man that he was a sinner. Hahahaha. It’s all good though an PI is just a role play thing. My companion and I laughed at this for soooo long. Second funny story is all Sister Harris. She was eating an ice cream sandwich and she had it all in her teeth and these Elders were introducing themselves to her.  She turns to them and says hi with ice cream sandwich all in her teeth. I was dying. I am laughing just thinking about it.

Something exciting things for this week is that I leave for OHIO in like 10 hours! I am so excited to get out to the field. I am excited to find the people that the Lord sent me to Ohio to find. I know that this is the work of the Lord and that this is His church restored on the Earth. I am excited to be able to share the knowledge that I have of our Savior with the people in Ohio.

Well, I hope y'all have a great week. Try to serve others this week. Even in small ways like giving them a note whatever. Every small act of kindness does something.

Love,

Sister Barrow

Sister Barrow Week #2 Feels like a Zoo 7-17-2017

We got lots of picture this week! Here is just a few!

I guess this poor Elder fell a sleep for a few hours!!! Poor guy!

Some of the art work in the new building! Megan loved so many!

Hello!

This week the tours have started at the MTC. I feel kind of like I am at the Zoo. Everyone is coming and looking in our classes to see how things work. It’s kind of weird though because we are trying to learn and there are a ton of people walking around. It is good though because people are able to learn more about what we do and more about our church. People also are able to feel the spirit as the walk around here. The spirit is so tangible here. We also have been able to talk to some people. We talk to someone who went to my companion mission and it was really cool to learn more about the area she is going to be serving in.

This week has flown by! The saying that a day feels like a week and a week feels like a day is so true! I forgot to bring my journal with me so, I can't really remembered what happened. I am just going to wing it.

Our TRC's went great this week. We had one investigator who went from not even knowing who God was to believing in Him and wanting to be baptized. It was such a powerful experience. We did have a couple of rough lessons though. Really just one but, we learned from it. After that experience Sister Harris and  I are WAY better teachers. We are able to follow where the Holy Ghost wants us to go. Teaching has become one of my favorite things here. One thing that is so powerful in lessons is bearing our testimony. Simple testimony is so strong.

Our class has been great! I have learned so much about our Savior and what His plan is for us! Heavenly Father's plan is truly a plan of happiness and it is centered on our Savior Jesus Christ. I love learning more about him and how to share his gospel.

Oh some cool things that I learned when I read 1 Nephi 1 was just how willing Lehi was. Lehi first read in the scripture and heard the prophet. He decided to pray about it for himself. Then he gets this vision and he is so willing to follow. This is something each one of us can put into our lives. Our Heavenly Father is there and He wants to hear from you. Pray to Him! I ask you to pray to your Heavenly Father and ask Him questions you have been struggling with. He is there!

This week has been great and more thing happened but, I go to go. Have a great week everyone

Also I am reading in 1 Nephi 2 this week and I would love it if you would join me :)

Love,

Sister Barrow

Sister Barrow Week #1 MTC 7-11-2017

Sister Barrow Week 1 7-11-2017
Sister Barrow with Sister Harris (companion), Sister Chance, and Sister Parker
                                            Sister Barrow and Sister Harris

Hello everyone!!

The MTC is amazing! I honestly don't know where to start and I have already start this email over like 5 times. If this email is all over the place it is because a lot has happened this week. Well the first day was basically a blurry but, it was still great. One thing I remember from that day was meeting the MTC President and his counselors. One of the counselor’s name is Brother Weidman but, it is pronounced Wheatman (which remind me of Kar, I thought it was super funny.) Oh, and my companion is Sister Harris. She is great, fantastic, beautiful, wonderful, hilarious, and so much more. She has made me laugh like every day. She is great but, she is going to the West Virginia mission so, I won't see her until we are off our missions. She also reminds me of Randy and Claire because she quotes movies like all of the time. Her and Sister Chance both do. Sister Chance is another Sister in our district. She is from South Jordan and she is super cool. She is going to my mission so I will be able to see her throughout my mission. We also have Sister Parker in our district she is going to my mission as well. Sister Parker reminds me so much of Hailey. Thursday, we started to teach our first "investigator". It was a role play but, it felt so real. Her name was Kate. The first lesson went so great! We felt the spirit so strongly. It was amazing. We invited her to read the introduction of the Book of Mormon and she did! She progressed so well. The Book of Mormon is such a powerful tool. I would invite all of you to read it. It is an amazing book that can only change your life for the better. In the introduction it says, "a man would get nearer to God by abiding by it precepts, then by any other book". I know that this is true. Read the book it will only improve your life. Friday, we started our day out with service.  We helped the custodian vacuum. It was fun. I also got to see both Sister Westra’s. They are awesome. It was great to see a familiar face. We have class for like 6 hours every day but, it doesn't seem like that long. I have learned so much. One thing that I have learned about a ton this week is prayer. Prayer is so important. It is really the first step we take with every investigator because we can't tell them it true to convert them it comes through the Holy Ghost and through them praying. Heavenly Father is there and He wants to hear from you! Pray to him. He loves you so much. Sunday was so great. It is a little bit different here because like every day here is like Sunday because you are so uplifted every day. It was still great though to take the sacrament. We also went to a devotional which was so spiritual. There was a group of Elders and Sisters doing learning ASL that were signing the hymns which reminded me of Keaton. Keats you should learn a hymn and send it to me :) We also watched a talk by Elder Bednar. Oh man! it was so good! It was all about being like Christ and turning outward even in our darkest days. He used the example of Christ after suffering more than we can image in Gethsemane and instead of Christ turning inwards He turned outward and heal the guys ear. Elder Bednar said it way better if you are struggling look outwards and do something for someone else. Okay and then Monday we meant will two investigators. They are called TRC's some of the people we teach in there are real investigators and others are new member that are playing themselves. We don't know who is a really investigator or not so it is really cool. Last month the MTC had two baptisms because of the TRC's. Which is super cool. The two investigators we have are Emalee and Sofia. Emalee reminds me of Kenz. She is doing an Exercise and Wellness degree at UVU. Her roommate is LDS and she see that her roommate is always happy and wants to learn more about our church. She is very curious. It is great. She asked us so many great questions. It makes as like a little but, the spirit is great it lead us to perfect scriptures that she need to hear. Sofia she is a old Mexican lady. She is so funny. She has really lived a full life. She is really great. We get to meet with both of them again tomorrow. I am excited to see them both again and to help the come to Christ. I am excited to see how both of them progress. Well that is all for this week! Have a great week.

Love you all,

Sister Barrow

P.S.
