Week #34 - Boonies 2-28-2018

Hello Everyone! I am going to apologize for this email. I don't have a ton of time so, it's not going to be the best. This week has been quality! Got to knock on a lot of doors, talk at a fireside, got to drive out in the boonies of our area (almost out of our mission), and got to stop by a lot of less actives. The good ole things of missionary work.

First something cool from my reading this week. I am reading in Alma about Ammon and it is straight fire! In Alma 19 it is all about king Lamoni's fam and stuff it is great. It is all about their conversion. At one-point King Lamoni taken over by the spirit and some think that he is dead. His wife doesn't know what to do and she heard about Ammon so, she asks to talk to him and one of my fav verse from chapter 19 is 9 which says, "And Ammon said unto her: Believest thou this? And she said unto him: I have had no witness save thy word, and the word of our servants; nevertheless, I believe that it shall be according as thou hast said." The faith that she has is amazing to me. She is told by like a ton of people that her husband is dead yet, she listens to servant about him. I thought it was really cool. What have y'all been learning from your reading?

Funnies! Don't have a ton this week bc I can't remember but, my abs are sore from laughing so it has been a good week. We got the meet this awesome black lady named Angela and she is 10/10. We met her on Sunday and talked with her! We offered service and she is like can you help right now and we are like of course! We started helping her clean her house and I have never seen so many dead stink bugs in my life but, it was a good time. We ended up teaching her the weirdest restoration I have ever taught in my life. We were sweeping up stink bugs and organizing her stuff and teaching the restoration. It was awesome!  Next one is Deidra who is someone we have been talking to for a while we gave her a Book of Mormon about a month ago and we went back to talk with her and she told us, " I ain't going to read that book," but then said that we could come back and read it with her. hahahahaha! Last one was Ray our investigator, who is the most golden investigator in like the whole mission, told me that I had a thick Utahan accent. Which is just punch in the face because I always make fun of Sister Wadley for hers then Ray goes and shuts me down. hahahahaha

We got to go but, party on my friends!

Love ya!

Week #33 - Knockin until the Knuckles are bloody at least Sister Wadley's

Hello Everyone!

Hope y'all are doing great! I would love any updates you guys have about life and Utah! Even if it is just a short crappy email! Life in PA is awesome! We have been knocking on A LOT of doors so many that Sister Wadley has knocked her knuckles bloody. It is a great time! Oh, this week I have been able to go outside for the first time in months without tights on! WHAT A BLESSING!!! I didn't think the day would come but, it is supposed to be in the 30's again by the end of the week but, I will take warm while I can. We also had exchanges this week and I got to go with Sister Chance who was in the MTC with me. What a party!

Something cool from my studies this week is in Alma 14 in verse 8 which says, "he also brought forth their records which contained the holy scriptures, and cast them into the fire also, that they might be burned and destroyed by fire." In this verse it is when some people are just hating hardcore and they end up killing like all of the believers, but in this part they even start burning the scriptures which reminded me of something I read about in church history about how people would burn down the printing presses to try to stop printing of The Book of Mormon and other church materials. Which didn't do anything because like Elder Holland says, "For 179 years this book has been examined and attacked, denied and deconstructed, targeted and torn apart like perhaps no other book in modern religious history—perhaps like no other book in any religious history. AND STILL IT STANDS".  No matter what people do The Book of Mormon is true it is God's word!  There are always going to be people that hate and try to stop Gods work, but it isn't going to happen. God's work is going on with or without you. It's up to you to come along or not. I want to hear anything that y'all have been learning in your studies :)

We got some solid funnies this week. First one being Sister Wadley knocking her knuckle bloody then not knowing what to do with it so, she basically wrapped a pass along card around it. hahahaha. Next one is from when I was with Sister Chance on exchanges. We were following up with some people they talked to a couple of days before. It's kind of dark and I am just following Sister Chance bc I don't know who these people are or anything. We are at the door and she knock then she says, "this is the wrong house and we knocked on this house like yesterday" I don't know what to do. Do we run? Do we hide? Just pray they don't answer? hahahaha This lady answered, and we just told her we were at the wrong house and that we are sorry we knocked on her door. She was chill and let us pet her dog. It turns out all good. I thought this next thing was funny but, y'all might not. Sister Wadley and I were just chillin at our apartment eating lunch and I just randomly asked What do you think Jesus' favorite food was? Without hesitation Sister Wadley answered unleavened bread. hahahahahaha I legit cried over this. Then the last one is from yesterday. For Presidents day we decided to celebrate by tracting Lincoln St. We knwo how to celebrate!

Hope y'all have a great week!

Love ya!

Week # 32 - Party in the OCM

Hello!

Life is good in good ole Y-town. Not a whole lot has changed here, it is still a party! Oh we did have zone conference this week. What a party that is! President and Sister Brown are the best! We mostly just talked about phones (we are getting smart phones in March) and just a whole bunch training on it. Then we have like 500 more meeting before we get our phones but, the phone is going to awesome! It is going to help so much! I am pumped for it!

Funnies: We have this boss Senior Sister that is our district. I am pretty sure she is hipper then me. Anyways, at one point she said with a straight face and I quote, " I think we are going to see her get dunked." hahahaha. I almost bust a rib trying not laugh. One more is that Sister Wadley and I were driving. We were stopped at red light the left lane started going and so did Sister Wadley.... I almost died!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I started yelling that it isn't green then once Sister Wadley was like in the middle of the intersection she finally stop. Then had to reverse it was good we didn't die!

Honestly I can't think of anything else that have happened this week. I am sorry this email is junk I just don't know what has been happening. We has a boss zone activity and played basketball, which means we don't have a ton of time to email.  Please forgive me, but I am having a great time!!  The OCM is boss!

Love y'all,

Sister Barrow

Week #31 - No Pants No Problem 2-7-2018

                                                      Climbing Street signs
Megan Rd
                                                  Carol's Angles (read below)
                                                        Random sign
                                                       an actual warm day!

Another one down and another one down. Another one bites the dust.

Now that I am done singing. This week has been solid. One of our investigators basically said he was Mormon this week. What a blessing!  We also had another investigator say that our church is her church. Now if we just get her to stop smoking. hahahahaha.

Spiritual thing then onto the funnies. We have a less active we have been working with, Sister Mack.  She is pretty cool, but super accident prone. Proof of that is that she slipped on her driveway and broke her ankle and had to have surgery. Understandably she has been in a lot of pain. We offered to get her a blessing and she said that she wanted one but, that she didn't want her husband there because he isn't a member and didn't feel comfortable. We got some Brothers to come with us to the hospital after church to give her a blessing. Her husband ended up coming back early and was there during the blessing and he loved it. He LOVES God and was so happy that she could get help from Him. He was awesome! The blessing was great! She now is doing way better and hopefully will be home this week!

Funnies! Yesterday we were out in Greenville, which is like super far away but, we were getting fed by some members up there. We decide to spend the day up there and tract down some less actives. It was a party! One house we when stopped by was literally in the middle of nowhere. Legit their neighbors were Amish. We drive up to the driveway and it has signs going down the drive saying things like turn back now, keep going at your own risk, and because of the high price of ammo expect no warning shot, but we keep going. We get out after some serious prayer hoping that we wouldn't die. We knock on the door and this lady answers ask her if she is the person we are looking for and she says no. So, we go down this crazy drive and it wasn't even them! Come to find out it was house down the road, but you know middle of nowhere so, it is like a half mile down the road. We go knock on that house and the BIGGEST, GIANT, HUMONGOUS dog you have ever seen in your life! Bigger then Fluffy off Harry Potter, came charging at the door. I am surprised the door didn't break! It did break the curtain down though. Then it just left its paw sitting on the frame of the window on the door and sat there growling at us. It sounded like a dragon! I am pretty sure the growl its self could have blown all the 3 little pigs house down. Gratefully, no one was home and we left a note on the door and didn't lose any fingers. Then later that day still trying to stop by less actives. We stop by this Sister's house, we knock on the door heard her yelling, her mom let us in and we can still hear her yelling for something. We walk in and realize that she was yelling for pants.... I love Youngstown. One more funny story. Once again we were trying to find less actives. We were in Hubbard, which I realize that none of you know these areas but, whatever. Anyways, we are driving to this address we have for this lady named Carol. We end up in the trailer park #whatablessing. We are driving up trying to look for her number and bam this bright pink trailer like hits you in the face. Wouldn't you know that is her trailer. We go and knock on her door and she just answered and said to come right in. We both just looked at each other like who is this. This never happens. We find out she is Carol, so we go inside and in her home you have angels, cheetah, pink, pictures, and crazy stories coming your way. This lady is great! She is like 78 and is from Reno and has the glasses to go with it. She also has been struck by lightning twice. She is a crazy lady, but oh man she is like my favorite person! She also has a bad memory and tells you the same story like 50 times. Oh man I love it! Youngstown is a party!

Hope y'all have a great week!

Love ya,

Sister Barrow

Sister Barrow Week #30 - Y town is THE town 1-31-2018

Random Pictures of Megan's mission. No we do not know where she will be serving. It is like waiting on another mission call.

Hello People of The Real World.

How is everyone doing? This week has been another blessed week! One of the greatest blessing is that Chloe got dunked! Sadly, I wasn't able to be there because she is in the Alliance ward. It is all good though! We also had the best coordination meeting EVER! We had pizza and there happened to be a stake dance going on so, we got to listen to real people music. IT WAS A HUGE BLESSING! Another great blessing of this week is that we got the Restoration Movie on a DVD!! #itislikemissionarygold. Oh and another great moment this week is that we went outside with out a coat. Then the next day it snow so, there went that. It was great while it lasted. One day it will be spring. I just need to be like Sister Boren and have a count down until March 21st the first day of spring. hahahah

Based off of that this week has been solid but, it gets even better. I have made it to Alma! It is like a hitting the jack pot! Just one thing I like from my reading was in Alma 5. Alma which is basically the coolest. He was like the ruler but, he saw that the people in the church were startin to be dumb so, he gave up this great position to help the church. He went out and started teachin the peeps. He started telling them just to remember. He taught them about what happened for them to get where they are at. He is beast! Alma then just tells them basically to learn from the past. Which got me thinking about Kirtland and the history that is there. Luckily I have a cool comp who is a site Sister and we have the Restoration DVD so, we popped that in one night. Sister Wadley was able to tell me all of these cool facts about what people did to get us here. It was awesome! I would highly recommend watching the Restoration and just learning of the past. It is amazing to see what Saints when through just to teach the gospel.

Now onto a funny story. We were out knocking on some doors. You know doing missionary work. The street we picked was awesome first off the street was named Templeton then the first house we knocked on was the home of these two older people who were awesome! We knock on the door and the man yells, " I think someone knocked on the door". We just sit there and wait. Then a minute or so later we hear a women yell, "Honey is someone at the door?' He yells back," I thought I heard someone knock." She yells back, "Go look who it is" This old guys gets up and just walks away. hahahaha. They didn't even answer but, I love them. ahahaha old people are my people.

That is all for this week!

Love all y'all,

Sister Barrow
