Sister Barrow Week #21 - #lighttheworld

Hola!

Hope everyone has had a great week! Out here it has been a party! I don't really know what to say about this week. I honestly can’t remember what even happened this week. It has been a total blur with transfers being this week. Speaking of transfers, we learned that Sister Lloyd and I will be staying in Alliance for another transfer! Woot Woot! The party will continue. I am excited to stay here and be here through Christmas! Oh, and speaking of Christmas. Have all of you guys heard about #Lighttheworld? Oh man! It is SO good! It is just really how we can be Christ hands this Christmas season. I would encourage each of you to go look at mormon.org and learn more about it.

I wanted to share with you guys something from my studies this week. I was reading Ether 12. Which is such a quality chapter! In the first part it talks a lot about faith and I really like verse 12. Which says. "For if there be no faith among the children of me God can do no miracle among them; wherefore, he showed not himself until after their faith." When I read that I thought of Polar Express. Keep with me it is great! When the main kid is standing the town - square looking at the bells and he still can't hear them. It isn't until he acts and says that he believes in Santa that he is finally able to hear the bell. Then he was able to see Santa and was given the first gift of Christmas. That is the same with us and God. God doesn't just doesn't give us things and just like the scripture says he doesn't show us himself until after are faith. We need to hear the bells then we can see how God is working in our lives. I hope that makes sense.

Now onto what people actually read, the funnies. I have learned, or semi learned how to embroider over the past couple of weeks. These two old ladies Sister Hughes and Sister Tharp gave us pillowcases a couple of weeks ago and we have been working on them. We thought it would be a good idea if we took it over and they helped us with it. Well, they were super excited about it! They taught me how to do this back stitch then and something else. hahaha so, I am basically a sewing expert now. ;) After they showed us this Christmas house! It is Christmas to the MAX! I would even go as far as comparing it to temple square. It is that great!

Well, that is all for this week!

Love ya,

Sister Barrow Week #20 - Kyle

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

Hope you all are having as great of a Thanksgiving that I am. We have some amazing members here that let us email on the computers and give us some great food! Karen our recent convert even made me some gluten free stuffing. Geez, It has been a great day! Sister Lloyd and I also decorated for Christmas today so, it has been a solid day so far.

Something from my reading this week that I liked is Romans 8:26 and 27. It talks about how during prayers that God understands us and He helps us during the pray to ask for things so, He can bless us and help us. It actually reminded me of Sister Marriott talk from this past conference and how she was praying and He told her to love her. It is a great talk I would highly suggest reading it. :)

Now onto things that happened this week. It has been a crazy week! We have had so much fun this week. Funny thing happened this week. We were out walking around because it was actually warm so, we figure we would walk to things. That and it is a great time to contact people. We were walking, This, guy was sitting outside smoking, I was like we should talk to him but, how? Well, I just said the first thing that popped in my head. I told him that he would be warmer if he didn't smoke and he just laughed and said your right. hahaha. We got talking with him and ended up giving him a Book of Mormon. hahaha. Oh, and then moments before this I fell into a hole. Well, I like created a hole. We were walking along and for some reason in Ohio there are like no sidewalks. We were walking on the grass when I just fall through. hahaha I like almost fell on my face.

Well, that was basically my week. Hope y'all have a great week!

Love ya!

Sister Barrow Week #19 - Scaring Kids! Say What?

 Found the "MTC" in Ohio

Hello Everyone!

This has been crazy week! First off this ward is amazing! We had two investigators at church and this ward was awesome! They just took them right in and helped them. We did nothing! Which made our investigators time at church SO much better! It made all of the difference to them enjoying church! I encourage all of you to say hello to people at church. It makes a huge difference of them wanting to be there. Even if it is an active member. You never know how far your hello will go!

Oh I wanted to share with you guys something that Sister Lloyd says all the time. Which is actually a quote from The Field of Dreams. The quote is, "If you build it they will come!". Which has become our motto out here. If we do the work and do what the Lord wants us to do. They will come.

Now onto the funny stories for this week. One night all of our plans fell through and we can't just go home early. We still got work to do so, we went to our backup plan and we went tracting. We were on our last house of the night and we knocked on it and this young kid maybe about 8 answers. He screams and had the most terrified look on his face and then slammed the door. He apparently didn't expect to missionaries at his door. Hahahaha. We didn't know what to do but, then the dad came to the door and all was good. Oh man was that little kid scared though.

That's about it for this week!

Love all y'all!

Sister Barrow Week #18 - Rollercoaster Week

Hello Everyone!

Sorry I don't have a ton of time this week but, it has been a great week! The coolest thing happened this week! We met this lady named April about a week or two ago, taught her the Restoration, gave her a Book of Mormon and invited her to start reading it.  We were finally able to meet with her again this week and we were just planning on read The Book of Mormon with her so, we asked her where she was and she said she FINISHED IT! She read the whole Book of Mormon in like 2 weeks! Sister Lloyd and I didn't know what to do with that! We just talked about the Book of Mormon with her and what her favorite stories and stuff was. It was a great time!

Now one quick funny story then I have to go. We were visiting Sister Stiver and helping her because she fell last week and broke her ribs. We were over there helping her and talking with her. She was telling us how she can't see colors very well anymore because of that she doesn't match all the time. She finally has gotten to the point that she doesn't care so she said, " If you don't like it don't look". Hahahah this lady is great! Oh, we also were doing some laundry for her in her basement and down there was a porn magazine so, the 91 year old lady had a porn magazine in her basement. Hahaha. We didn't know how to tell her it was there so, we just left it. Hahahahaha!

That's all for this week! Sorry it is so short! I will send a better one next week!

 Love ya,

Sister Barrow Week #17 - Freezing to Death

Hello Everybody!

How are all you guys doing? This week has been a cold but, good week. We haven't gotten snow but, I pretty sure I might freeze to death by the end of winter. People weren't lying when they said the humidity makes it even colder. It might feel even cold because my fam keeps sending me picture from Mexico..... It okay I am not butt hurt or anything. Really though this week has been really good! We met some really cool old ladies the other day. Oh man it was so much fun! We were going to check on an old investigator just to see how she was doing. She wasn't home but, her mom and aunt were. They let us in and we talked with them for a little bit and it was a party. They were telling us stories from when they were young, and I was dying I was laughing so hard! It was like when Joyce tells her stories. It was a great time! One of the ladies’ name Lucy was a biker when she was younger and oh man does she have some great stories.

Now onto some more spiritual stuff after that mess. I read some great and little confusing stuff. Getting into the Isaiah chapters are rough but, President Brown told me that I just need to take it slow through them. He also told me that Isaiah was a poet so, he repeats himself in different ways. If you can understand maybe the first couple of verses, then you can get the rest. It has really helped me. Oh, and using the footnotes are in Isaiah help too. Anyways, the thing I wanted to talk about was in 2 Nephi 9. It is just the first line in verse 13. It just says, "O how great the plan of our God!". I just love that because it is so true! This plan of happiness that God has for us is perfect and is made for each one of us. He really thought through everything. It is a plan that will not fail and if you follow it and do what God wants you to do. That my friend is where you find TRUE and LASTING happiness and joy.

After that little rant let's tell some funny stories. We were knocking on doors one night. Not a lot of people were answer so we would just leave a card. We were going through and it was mine turn and knocked and waited a little and no one was coming. I started to put a card in the door and this lady opened the door and I almost fell into her. Hahahaha. Then she was asking us what we wanted, and I just stared at her because my mind when completely blank. Hahahaha. That was one of my most awkward door approaches ever! Oh, we went over to a members house to heat up our dinner and she was nice and just let us eat there while she waited for her son who was coming to go out to dinner with her. Well, we just were sitting there talking to her as we ate and in walks her son. He looks at us and says, "Really mom are you trying to gang up on me now." Hahahaha. We did get to know him a little bit and talk with him.

Well, that's it for my week! Hope all is well with you guys!

 Love ya,

Sister Barrow
