Hellooooo Everybody!

This week has been another solid week. What an adventure it has been. Let's start out with some funny things. First funny story is Sister Taranito, this awesome lady in our ward, she gave us some noodles and some sauce. Well, I ate it for dinner one night and it was so good. I had most of the sauce left so, I put it in the fridge. Less than a minute later Sister Boren gets in there and grabs something out of the fridge and knocks the sauce. It falls and breaks and goes EVERYWHERE. We had sauce all over our kitchen. There was some on the walls. Hahahaha it was a mess. It made our kitchen smell good though. We just don't know how to tell Sister Taranito we wasted like all of the sauce she gave us.... Okay next story is we are out tracking (knocking on doors) we knock on this door and the garage door starts opening up. This is always awkward when you are at their door and they are pulling in. Well, we decide we should try to talk to him anyways. He was a very interesting dude. His name was Craig and he thought he knew about our religion. The first thing he said to us was. You must be the Mormons or the Latter-day Saints. We said yes. That was went he started telling us that we believe the Jesus Christ came to America in the modern world. We told him no and he was like you believe that he came in the 1900's. It was super weird. He thought The Book of Mormon was written in the 1900's. Oh he also didn't believe in the internet. He thought it was completely evil. Super weird.

Reading for this week was awesome as always. The Book of Mormon is awesome! I love Chapter 8 and the tree of life that Lehi see. I love the desire that you see he has in verse 12. You see once he partakes he wants others to feel of the JOY he feels. Do you have that desire? Do you feel the joy that comes from the gospel of Jesus Christ? If you aren't feeling the joy I ask you to pray and to find it for yourself because that is where the joy comes from.

This week I will be reading 1 Nephi 9 -12

Hope y'all have an amazing week!

Love you all,
Sister Barrow

Hello Everybody!

Hope all your weeks have been great. It has been a solid week here in Ohio. We decorated a corner in our apartment for Christmas so, it has been a pretty great week! This week I got to meet this cool guy name Doyle. He is so amazing he went from being a homeless man on drugs like 10 years ago now to a devoted Presbyterian and has his life together. He is awesome. He lets us come over and talk with him. He says that he doesn't want to convert but, he like how we talk to everyone about Jesus. He is really cool and it is amazing to see how Christ has changed his life for the better. Also random side note but, his decorating skills are amazing! His apartment is so pretty. Like I want him to decorate my house when I get older.  We also had a clothing drive and the church that we helped with. It was great. There was some crazy pieces of clothing there so, of course we had to try it on! We got a couple of pictures of us wearing our stuff. It was a fun time! Oh, I also kind of learned how to tie a bow tie. There was a brother in the ward that donated a lot of old bow ties and so we wanted to try to learn how to tie them. It didn't work out to well but, we tried. We also tried to tie a tie and that didn't go to well. I kept doing mine backwards. It is a good thing I don't wear bow ties or ties.  We also got to meet some cool people and help them out. There was a lot of school teachers that came in trying to find clothes for their students this year. It was sad what they were saying about how their students had little to nothing. I am happy that we could help them out though. Oh, exciting news we also had TWO investigators at church!!! It was awesome! We didn't plan on seeing anyone because everyone said they couldn't come. Which sucked and then we got there and two of them were sitting in the chapel! It was such a great surprise!

In the reading, I like chapter 5 where it talks about Sariah. She did not have a firm belief until he saw what the Lord had done in protecting her sons. She didn't have a testimony until she sat back and looked at how the Lord has blessed her. Have you look to see the tender mercies the Lord does for you? This week I am going to read 1 Nephi 6 - 8. Like always I would love to hear from you what you learn in the reading. Even if you aren't reading what I am reading. The scriptures are an amazing tool and we can learn so much from them.

We also got to see the solar eclipse this week. It was really cool! I was able to use the glasses that Papa gave me. We went over to Sister Stiver's house. Sister Stiver is awesome, I have talked about her before she is the 91-year-old. She said that she wanted to see the eclipse but, didn't have anything to watch them with. It is a good thing I had the glasses. It was super great. Sister Stiver told us about the last eclipse she saw. It was cool. She is such a sweet old lady.

Well I am getting kick off the computer so, peace out!

Love you all,

Sister Barrow

Hello All,

This week has been a blurry. I am reading my journal to try to remember what even happened this week. We mostly have been working with a lot of less actives and doing service. Oh, something that happened this week was we met this lady named Katherine. Katherine is this old lady that is very independent and lives on her own. She reminds me of Joyce. Well a couple of weeks ago she had a stroke so, she hasn't been able to clean her house really. She was getting frustrated with it and down on herself that she couldn’t do thing. She started to complain to her friend about how she couldn't do things and how her house was a mess. This friend happened to be a member and said that we could come over and help her. Well she said yes and we could come help her.  It was great we just cleaned up her house. She was telling us to vacuum the floors but, they calling it sweeping and I was so confused. They also call a vacuum and sweeper. I was so lost when she was explaining what she wanted us to. Once I figured out what she wanted us to do we started to clean. As we were cleaning we started talking to her. Well, we are going back to visit her this weekend and teach her a lesson. It was just a simple thing that we did for her and I am so glad that the member thought of us and sent us over there. Even if you have friend that just needs service done I know that the missionaries would be more than willing to help so, send them over there. We also visited with Brother Maxon. He is a less active. He got baptized when he was about 12, hasn't really been to church since he was about 14. He is now 68 so it has been awhile... Anyways, we started meeting with him and teaching him the lessons because he doesn't really remember what we believe in. He is slowly understanding more and more. It is a process though but, he should be in church next week!

This week I read in 1 Nephi 3. It was really good! One thing I got out of the reading was how important the scriptures are. They are something that they could not continue their journey without them. How can they keep the commandments of the Lord if they don't know them? That is why it is so important to read. How are we supposed to follow God if we don't know what He wants us to do? That is why we need to treasure up the word and read our scriptures. This week I am going to continue and read 1 Nephi 4 & 5. I hope that you all will read along with me. Email me things you learn from reading the scriptures! I love hearing about it.

Here are some funnies from this week. For some reason we keep finding people who only speak Spanish. It is a struggle. Anyways we have this investigator named Herminio. It was a interesting experience trying to teach him. We started of praying and he prayed in Spanish. It was cool. Then we started talking and he can understand us but, we can't understand him. All I know is one minute I thought I knew what was going on then the next he was crying. Then he was teaching us how to say fat in Spanish. hahahaha. It was a really interesting lesson. Sister Boren and I just laugh like our whole way home. Oh, another funny story. I can't believe I am sharing this with everyone. Anyways, last night Sister Boren and I had a burping competition. We have been rating each other’s burps for the pass little bit and we were both trying to hit tens. To get all burpy we drank a ton of soda. We have ton of soda at our apartment because these old ladies think that we like soda. We drank like a ton and we had our burping competition. It was so funny. We both hit tens. hahahaha The weird ways you have fun as a missionaries.

 Love,

Sister Barrow

Sister Barrow Week #5 Fun Facts of OHIO! 8-8-2017

Pictures from her Primary class in Utah
At the Columbus Temple with a recent convert
 Megan's desk in her aprtment
Hello Everybody!

This week has been pretty solid! I got to go to the temple this week! We went with a recent convert named Jess. She is super cool. We went and did baptisms with her. It was really cool she could get baptized for her grandma. It was a great experience. However, it did take 3 hours just to get down there! Which is something I am not used to. It was super great to be in the temple again! It is so awesome in Utah how close temples are and that we can have that uplifting power so close to us. I invite all of you to attend the temple at least once a month. It is something that is totally possible. Just make time for it.  Oh, this week we also had exchanges. It is where we change companions for the day with the Sister Training Leaders. It was a lot of fun! I learn a ton! I change with Sister Gravin. She is super funny. She reminds me a lot of Haylilann Gatten. It was a great time. She was just able to talk to anyone and bring up the gospel of Jesus Christ like it was so impressive.

This week for reading I read in 3 Nephi 13. Which was awesome! I really like verse 32. It talks about how your Heavenly Father is aware of you. He knows what you need. He will lead and guide you to the best things for you. I know that you trust in Him and let Him lead you in life that you will have a far better life then you could image. Instead of jumping all round let’s just go back to 1 Nephi 3.

Fun stories from this week. Oh, here is a great one. We were knocking on doors and we asked this guy what made him happy in life and he straight up answered drugs. My com and I didn't really know what to say. hahahaha. Ya that was a fun conversation. Oh, we also go the cops called on us this week. I guess you can say that two sister missionaries really look tough and scary.

Funny things about Ohio. First off Sister Huntington you were right. For some reason, the less teeth people have the nicer their TV's are. I don't know why that is a thing but, it is. Second, they don't believe in overhead lighting in houses. Everyone just has lamps. In our apartment, we have one overhead light and it doesn't even work. It is kind of annoying but, what can you do. Oh, there is also these things call porch geese. It is just a statue of a geese but, the dress them up. My favorite one was one dressed up like a chef. Another funny thing is that they have pineapples everywhere. I love it! The pineapple is supposed to be a sign of welcoming yet, those are the people they are the rudest when they answer, usually. The last thing that I think is weird is there is so much road kill and potholes. We now have two dead raccoons on the turn in before our apartment. You can't go like 10 feet without seeing road kill.

Well, on that note. Have a great week.

Love,

Sister Barrow

Sister Barrow Week #4 Hello from Ohio 8-2-2017

Megan sent a few pictures this week: 2 are her last day at the MTC with her companion and her MTC Zone, SLC airport, her at the Kirtland Temple, a sunset by her apartment, Milcreek park next to her apartment, and a barber shop in Alliance that she found funny and reminded her of Randy.

Sister Barrow did say it was great to see Brother Holt at the airport! In her words, ”it is like the real world still does exist.” She also loves getting emails, letters, and packages.

Hello Everyone,

I am in Ohio!!!!! It is so great here. Let's start off with my first day and night here. We stayed at the mission home. President and Sister Brown are amazing, they are so nice. We just basically went over some rules and ate food. All of us were like half asleep the whole time. The next morning, we woke up dark and early as David Cluff would say. We got going so we could make the drive over to Kirtland. Oh man! Kirtland is awesome!!! We got a tour all in the temple and talk about what happened there. One of my favorite parts was talking about D&C 110 (I think that is the section, I can't really remember.) Anyways we were reading about the Savior appearing to Joseph Smith, it was really cool, we got to see a place where the Savior stood. It was awesome! Something we talked about while we were there was how my mission is one of the only places that the God said He would build up before the Second coming, it was just such a cool experience, I can't really put words to it. If any of you ever have a chance to go to Kirtland do it! I hope that I will be able to serve around there.

The area I am in right now is call Alliance. Well actually Alliance North. We have half of a ward the Elders have the other half, we still have a really big area though. It takes us a hour to get to church, that is something I am not used to. My companion name is Sister Boren, she is from Meridian Idaho. She just got done with training herself so, she has been out for about 3 months. Our ward here is awesome, they are so willing to help us. They are great, I have gotten a meal here like almost every night, which is so helpful. On Sunday, we ate at the Saxey's (the Bishops house) it was really good. Sister Saxey even made a gluten free cake for me. It was awesome! The ward is great it is small but, they are solid. We have been working a lot with less actives which has been fun. There is one name Brother Fink. He is a funny old man. He won't commit fully to anything but, we have a goal of getting him to fully commit to coming to church, it is going to be fun. We also go and visit the elderly. One lady name Sister Stiver and she is the cutest little old lady. She is 91 years old and she is still going strong, she is so great. She was telling us about her life and she met her husband at this military base in Idaho. She is full of some great stories. Sometimes just listening is the greatest service you can give someone. So, call up your grandparent or great grandparents, they will love to hear from you and just talk.

If we aren't visiting people we are knocking on doors to try to find the people we were sent here to teach. Some funny stories from this week is that this man named Rusty answered the door in his boxers! Oh man. Sister Boren and I were a little shocked to say the least. We talked to him still and he seem pretty interested though. It was good and he was asking where our church was and if he was nearby one Sunday he would come check it out. Then Sister Boren invited him to the clothes drive that is happening this week. Yes, she invited this man that was wearing just boxers to the clothes drive. I was trying my hardest not to laugh at the door. It was so funny! Another funny story is that we were talking to this lady that had a dog and the came running out of the house to greet us and it go so excited that it peed on both of our shoes! It was a little gross but, luckily, we had wipes in the car to clean it up. It is super fun and always crazy here. It is great!

Hope y'all have a great week.

Love,

Sister Barrow

Reading:

I love Alma 32. It has been a chapter I have turned to many times already on my mission. I just love how it says if you have a perfect knowledge then you have no faith and if you have no faith you have no belief. I also really like verse 27. That all you need is just a desire to believe and that is where it all really starts. Aw I just love this chapter. I encourage each one of you to experiment on the word and read the Book of Mormon and read it and pray about it. I know that as you do so, that you will find sooo much joy and direction in your life. I will be reading 3 Nephi 13, I would love it if you email anything you learned from the chapter or anything that you are learning from your reading.
