Sister Barrow Week #17 - Freezing to Death

Hello Everybody!

How are all you guys doing? This week has been a cold but, good week. We haven't gotten snow but, I pretty sure I might freeze to death by the end of winter. People weren't lying when they said the humidity makes it even colder. It might feel even cold because my fam keeps sending me picture from Mexico..... It okay I am not butt hurt or anything. Really though this week has been really good! We met some really cool old ladies the other day. Oh man it was so much fun! We were going to check on an old investigator just to see how she was doing. She wasn't home but, her mom and aunt were. They let us in and we talked with them for a little bit and it was a party. They were telling us stories from when they were young, and I was dying I was laughing so hard! It was like when Joyce tells her stories. It was a great time! One of the ladies’ name Lucy was a biker when she was younger and oh man does she have some great stories.

Now onto some more spiritual stuff after that mess. I read some great and little confusing stuff. Getting into the Isaiah chapters are rough but, President Brown told me that I just need to take it slow through them. He also told me that Isaiah was a poet so, he repeats himself in different ways. If you can understand maybe the first couple of verses, then you can get the rest. It has really helped me. Oh, and using the footnotes are in Isaiah help too. Anyways, the thing I wanted to talk about was in 2 Nephi 9. It is just the first line in verse 13. It just says, "O how great the plan of our God!". I just love that because it is so true! This plan of happiness that God has for us is perfect and is made for each one of us. He really thought through everything. It is a plan that will not fail and if you follow it and do what God wants you to do. That my friend is where you find TRUE and LASTING happiness and joy.

After that little rant let's tell some funny stories. We were knocking on doors one night. Not a lot of people were answer so we would just leave a card. We were going through and it was mine turn and knocked and waited a little and no one was coming. I started to put a card in the door and this lady opened the door and I almost fell into her. Hahahaha. Then she was asking us what we wanted, and I just stared at her because my mind when completely blank. Hahahaha. That was one of my most awkward door approaches ever! Oh, we went over to a members house to heat up our dinner and she was nice and just let us eat there while she waited for her son who was coming to go out to dinner with her. Well, we just were sitting there talking to her as we ate and in walks her son. He looks at us and says, "Really mom are you trying to gang up on me now." Hahahaha. We did get to know him a little bit and talk with him.

Well, that's it for my week! Hope all is well with you guys!

 Love ya,

Sister Barrow Week #16 - I am in Charge Now

Hello people of normal life! Things here in the missionary world are going great! I got a new comp this week. Her name is Sister Lloyd she is from Oregon and has been out for 10 months which is a huge blessing! She is awesome and is such a hard work which is great because we got a lot of work to get done here in Alliance. I don't really know what else to really say about this week. It has been a party though!

Let's start with some funny stories. Well, I finally get to drive! Woot Woot. I have missed driving so much! The roads here are a little weird. You have some intersections that have like 5 different roads going to it. It is a mess, I miss the Utah road, the roads are just really bad. Anyways, I was sitting in the left turn lane waiting on the light. When this HUGE semi-truck starts turning right; The road was super narrow and it just starts heading right for us, This truck got within inches of hitting us. It was insane! My first day driving I almost got him by a semi..... fun. Another funny story we were knocking doors one day and for some reason every door we went up to had bugs ALL OVER it. Most of them were ladybugs. Which wasn't too bad until they started attacking us! They were flying all over us and I am pretty sure I inhaled one. Hahahahaha! It is all good though. We got an investigator on the street so, it was worth it. We also met a legit nun on that same street, it was a blessed day, she was the sweetest old lady! She told us that if we ever become Catholic she would put in a good word for us to become a nun. So, I got my hook ups in the Catholic church now!

Oh, and this week I will be reading 2 Nephi 9-13. Let me know where you guys are reading! I love hearing about wherever you are reading :)

Well, that's all for this week!

Love ya,

Sister Barrow

Sister Barrow Week #15 - RIP Sister Boren 10/27/2017

What's up world? Jk it’s probably just my parents and grandparents. So, hello Mom, Dad, Joyce, Grammy, Papa, and Grandpa. How you guys doing?  Out here all things are going great! Good things are happening here. I got to mow Brother Maxon's lawn. Which means I got to ride on the ride on lawn mower again. THE BEST NEWS IS THAT OUR INVESTIGATOR KAREN GOT BAPTIZED ON SATURDAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That was amazing! Words can describe what you feel when you see someone change and enter the waters of baptism. It is just wonderful! Other than that, we have transfers this week and Sister Boren is leaving me and I will be staying here and getting a new companion. I will miss Sister Boren but, it will be great! She is going to Perry which is right by the lake so, she will be getting a lot snow. I will just be here laughing at her. I probably just cursed myself by saying that. Oh well.

I guess we will go onto the reading. :) Well, these are some crazy chapters. You have Lehi dying then Nephi and everyone else that is righteous follow him. Which means they left part of their family because they have been wicked. I mean I know that I have fought with my siblings but, it hasn't been so bad that the Lord commands me to leave. Well, maybe, He sent we all the way out here. JK I love my family. Anyways, I love the scripture 2 Nephi 5: 27 after all this their dad dying and their brothers being real wicked they say, "we lived after the manner of happiness". After all of this they still were following God and finding true happiness and peace in this life. That is so amazing! I know that is true that NO MATTER what you are going through Jesus Christ know and understands and it is through Him that we can find true happiness. That is how we live after the manner of happiness.

Now onto the funnies. My family sent me a package this week. Thanks fam! We made this gingerbread house they sent us one night and it was mess. We may or may not have an icing stain on our carpet.... oops. Also, it is funny because I can't even eat it and Sister Boren doesn't like it. It was fun to make though!  My fam also sent me some Halloween decorations so, our apartment is decorated for Christmas and Halloween. It is a true party now. Speaking of parties Sister Boren and I had glow stick party. We also did makeovers hahahahaha. It was great because neither of us really know how to do make up. It turned out really great just look at the pics. Well, sorry this is all over the place. That's all the funny things I can think of this week.

Have a great week!

Love all y'all,

Sister Barrow

Sister Barrow Week # 14 - The Crazy Fun Times Continues 10/11/2017

Hello everybody!

This is going to be short because we got to go to the temple today! WOOT WOOT! I love the temple and all y’all in Utah better go to the temple a lot because you have so many so close! We have to drive 3 HOURS to get to the closest temple! It is awesome to see the faith and strength of the members out here to go to the temple. Most of the active members go a least once a month! Which is crazy to me. They are willing to drive pretty far and sacrifice a lot of their time to get to the temple. It has been such a great testimony builder of the work that goes on in the temple and the truthfulness of this restored gospel.

A couple of funny stories and then I got to go. First one Sister Boren decide that our car was a race car..... we’ll surprise it isn’t. We have this little box thing in our car that yells at us when we go to fast, but it turns off a lot of the time. It turned off so, Sister Boren decided to speed up. Right in front of us was some train tracks and just kept going. After the train tracks the road kind of drops off and so we got some air and then right when we land the box came on, gave Sister Boren an aggressive driving 😂😂😂😂😂  Okay one more. We played dodge ball with our district last prep day! That was a party! There was only the 4 Elders and us 2 Sisters, we played everyone against everyone. Well, if you don’t know I kind of have and arm.... well I might have given one or two of the Elders welts. After that my district has decide that if all of us were in the hunger games I would win 😂😂😂😂 Well it has been a fun week like always!

Oh, also I am reading in 2 Nephi 4-8 I would love to hear about your reading even if you aren’t where I am. I love the scriptures so much and I would love to hear anything you are learning from them!

Have a fabulous, fantastic, and ferocious week! 😄

 Love ya all!

Sister Barrow Week #13 - Finding Jesus 10/4/2017

Hello Everybody!

Conference was awesome!  We got to watch it with members which was so much fun! We also got to watch the Kirtland video that was played in between session on Sunday. It was cool to watch the video because I have now been to places and connect with them a little more. The video was really cool and does a great job giving you a short history of Kirtland and what happen here.  Conference was so good I don't even know what is one thing I could email about. I did love Elder Hollands talk in Saturday morning session. One thing he said that I really liked is, "perfection is still pending." I loved that so much because we aren't expected to be perfect in this life. We are expected to try our best in what we are doing. Giving our real try to what we are doing.

Hollands talked reminded me of something from the reading in 2 Nephi 2:6 which talks about Jesus Christ and it is only through him that we are able to be saved. It is because of Jesus Christ that we are able to make mistakes and still be able to return to live with Heavenly Father. It is because of Him that we don't have to be perfect and all we have to do is try. What great news is that!? We just need to do our best!

Okay now onto the funny stuff because I know this is probably the only thing people actually read. So, we were out knocking on doors and just doing the normal things. We ended up knocking on a Jehovah Witness door. I have no idea what happened but, we somehow left her porch with a pamphlet. It was one of the most confusing experiences of my life. Sister Boren and I read through the pamphlet and it was so funny. Then later in the week we knocked on this lady door, named Candy. Yes, her name was Candy. Well she wasn't interested but, we told her we love to do service and if she ever needs anything to call us. Well, we start on the next house. We got to the end of the street and started to walk back to our car. Candy then calls us back and tells us that she wants to talk to us. She then asks us a whole bunch of questions. She was just curious on what we believe. You know we be super weird Mormons. By the end of it she says that we need to find Jesus more and just read out of the Bible and then tells us that she will be praying that we will be saved. Hahahaha. People are funny. Oh, one more last thing we went and visited a less active named Sister Long. She is a crazy old lady. This last time we were over there she told us all about here crush on like a 25-year-old delivery man. She told us about how he had a really cute butt and how she would flirt with him. OH MAN! I had no idea what to say! She just kept talking about him. hahahaha good times.

Have a great week!

Love all y'all,

Sister Barrow Week #12 - The Fun Continues in Ohio 9-27-2017

 Leaves are changing
 Ohio Country Road
Sister Barrow and Sister Boren

Hello Friends and Family! This has been another SOLID week in the great Ohio! First off, we got to watch Women's Conference! It was so good! I loved Sister Eubank's talk. We as women are what is going to build the church. How cool is that? I invite all of you to go watch Women's Conference and go watch the rest of General Conference this weekend. You can find it at lds.org

Reading was great! I thought a verse in 1 Nephi 22 is fitting for this week because of General Conference. It is verse 20. It talks about how the Lord will prepare a way for His people. He will call a prophet and if you want to follow Him (God) then you need to listen to the prophet. Lucky us we get to listen to the prophet and apostle this weekend. Well, like always I am going to keep reading on into 2 Nephi and I am going to read chapter 1, 2, and 3. I also would love to hear anything you learn from conference this week. :)

Well, you know it wouldn't be a normal week if I didn't do something stupid. This week I accidently whistled at an old man in some tight biker shorts..... We were just walking in a park talking to some people and I started whistling. Well, right when I started whistling we passed this guy in the biker shorts. So, I basically cat called an old man in biker shorts. We also lost our phone for a whole day... It is all good though. We found it after a wild goose chase to find it. It is kind of funny that we didn't have it for a day and we only missed 6 texts... obviously no one likes us... JK it was all good.

Hope y'all have a great week! Have a great time watching conference!

Love you all,

Sister Barrow

Sister Barrow Week #11 - The Murder of Sister Barrow... Hahaha JK Brother Crish still likes me 9-20-2017

 The paint mess, story below
Riding lawn mower she was so excited for this....
And the slime she got stuck to the ceiling.....
Another crazy week in Ohio. It is a party out here! To start off our investigator Karen has committed to a baptism date!! Woot Woot! She is such a cute lady. She is also going out to good old Salt Lake to see general conference. She is so excited about it. She is going to buy her scripture out there so she can have legit scripture. Karen is so funny. We also got a new investigator named Seth who we met at the park and he told us we could call him pancake. He is pretty cool as you can tell. We also thought that our favorite 91 year old lady Sister Stiver died. She didn't she just asked too many people for a ride to church and no one could get a hold of her. Aw man what a lady. Gave everyone a heart attack but, she is all good. Oh, also I got to drive a riding lawn mower this week so, it has been a pretty fantastic week.

Reading for this week was good. I love The Book of Mormon. In 1 Nephi 15:8 it says, "And I said unto them: Have ye inquired of the Lord?". It is a really short verse but, it reminded me of a less active we are working with. Brother Maxon he has a hard time understanding The Book of Mormon so, we asked him to pray before and ask for help in understanding. He is now getting so much more out of it. He is understanding the story now of what is going on. It is awesome. So, have you inquired of the Lord? Have you asked Him for help in what you need? I am going to be reading 1 Nephi 19-22

Now onto some funny stories. Well, I spilled like a gallon of paint all over the Crish's house. We went over there Wednesday to finish painting. I was just doing some trim work, nothing too hard. Well I was on the ladder getting the top and went to step down and I started falling but, I caught myself on the ladder. The ladder moved a little because I did that and hit a cord on the floor and the paint can went flying. It got all over their living room. I thought Brother Crish was going to kill me! I saw my life flash before my eyes. Luckily it mostly on their carpet. Which they are getting rid of!!! Then on Sunday we had an appointment with a less active, Brother Fink, we were reading The Book of Mormon with him. Sister Boren was reading and she said wonton (like wonton soup) instead of wanton. Then her and the member we brought with us, Sister Saxey, laughed so hard at it that they started to cry. Brother Fink and I just stared at them trying to figure out what was wrong with them. Well, that is it for this week. Well, that is basically all that has happened this week. Hopefully I don't make a mess of anything else.

Have a fabulous week!

 Love,

 Sister Barrow
